I was looking for a local artist to create a special commission for my wife’s 40th birthday and spotted Mel’s card at the local bakery. After checking out her website and seeing all the amazing work she’d done, I knew she was perfect for the idea I had in mind.

The brief was a bit quirky - our dog Cedric has a habit of throwing his bum in the air and proudly showing off his ‘coconuts’, and I wanted that exact pose with my wife’s face next to him (like in so many of our photos). Melody was completely up for the challenge from the start.

Once I shared the idea, I felt completely comfortable leaving it in her hands. She offered great advice and brought her expertise to every step of the process. The final piece was incredible, full of life and character and my wife was absolutely blown away.

We saw Mel’s work online and were blown away so we commissioned a picture of our cat Indy doing his usual lazy thing.
